Election Disinformation: Truth Matters
Debunking fake news designed to favor my opponent
An email newsletter was dispatched by Friends of Kewalos, claiming I had ignored their repeated questioning regarding OHA. The fact is I never received an email from “friendsofkewalos@gmail.com” asking me the question: “What is your stance on OHA wanting to change the existing No Residential law to allow them to build luxury high rise towers on their land in Kaka'ako Makai and why?”
If I had, I would have answered:
"According to Senator Moriwaki’s email newsletter dated July 19, 2024, 'OHA is moving away from building luxury high rises and will be engaging fully in both short- and long-term planning for Kaka’ako to align and support the Agency’s 15-year strategic plan adopted four years ago.’ Therefore this question is moot."
It must be noted that Howard Hughes has already built luxury high rises closer to the water of Kewalo Basin than OHA’s high rise would have been; what does this double-standard say about those who call out Hawaiian organizations but ignore the same from a mainland developer?
Please join me in urging Friends of Kewalos to immediately dispatch another email newsletter sharing my response and correcting the record. Email them at friendsofkewalos@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Kim Coco
